Most days I’m torn between punk or professional.
I’m Chase Bortz. My official title is videographer, but when nobody’s looking, I’ll tell you that I direct. To give an understanding of what’s important to me in film, I’ll quote Johannes Itten. “Colors are the children of light.” I am constantly composing vibrant, gleaming stories.
Before joining Mighteor, I cut my teeth on passion projects and paid the bills with corporate documentary work. It all began with special effects makeup and backyard short films with friends. The hobby quickly transformed into an education at WarrenTech, where my time in the tv/video production program inspired unique works with high production value. With unprecedented ease, I entered the media industry fresh out of school, releasing a viral comedy and winning a few awards along the way.
Outside of the office, I bike, I cook, I swim. I do my best to ingest art that furthers my mind, even though that sometimes degrades to anime and fried chicken at three in the morning. I’m a real cutie, and the real deal.
FAVORITE INTERNET VIDEO:
The short film “BOMBSHELL” recently caught my attention. Dead on with composition and the dramatic narrative.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT INTERNET VIDEO:
The talent, production value, and social context of a video all lend to make it great, but above all else, great ideas make great videos. And patience. Greatness takes patience.
DREAM SHOOT LOCATION:
Space, and the sea.
Lynch, Herzog, Gondry.
FAVORITE PIECE OF GEAR IN THE GEAR BAG:
Lights. Anyone can learn to set up a camera and press record. Painting with light and shadow defines good imagery.
WHERE ELSE CAN I BE FOUND ON THE INTERNETS:
I love you,
