Have you noticed that live video is everywhere now? Ahem, we’re even doing it! (link to Mighteor Monday on Facebook)
Now, Instagram, is next in the mix. We’ve been seeing more and more video on the popular app, but now they’ve implemented a live video aspect. Users can hit a “go live” button on their profile and broadcast a live video to their followers.
It’s not a big surprise that Instagram has decided to take on video. Facebook leadership has publicly said they want to be a “video first” platform, which we love. And let’s not forget that Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion in 2012 so it’s fitting that Instagram is making changes to be more video-centric.
If you’re a brand and you aren’t going Live on the regular – you’re missing out!
Check out how Buzzfeed has used Facebook Live to generate views and shares:

Why should you go live more often? Well, Facebook has seen numerous amounts of success with their Facebook Live results:
- People who are watching a Facebook video will spend up to 3x longer watching compared to a video that is not live.
- Facebook generates 8 billion video views on an average day.
- People comment on Facebook live videos 10x more than on regular videos.
The difference between Facebook Live and Instagram Live is that Facebook gives users the option to post the live video to their profiles and news feed once it has concluded, but the Instagram Live feature is only going to be able to be seen as it’s being broadcast. Once the live video has concluded, it’s gone forever.
